If you’ve always been a fan of Dungeons & Dragons, this visual novel is perfect for exploring the setting. It is the perfect, satirical homage to the “world’s greatest TTRPG”.

Even though this is a single-player visual novel, it aims to replicate the friendship aspect of D&D. It simulates it well, and you’ll get to make important choices, and build long-lasting friendships with the other AI players.

Best of all? Basements n’ Basilisks is also backed by a well-designed and gorgeous user interface. The art is charming, and it’s packed with the high-fantasy style you’d expect from a DnD-inspired title.

All of those wacky and zany DnD interactions? Like heading off to hug or talk to a tree? You can do that in this, too. There are many ways to approach the different conflicts and scenarios in this VN.

There are about 3 or so hours worth of story in Basements n’ Basilisks. It’s available to play through Steam, and well worth its price of $4.50 AUD.

If you’re looking for other fantasy interactive fiction or visual novel games to jump into—we recommend the illustrated text-based RPG, Roadwarden.
