If you ever thought data entry couldn’t get any worse—wait until you hear about DEAD LETTER DEPT. This new title is a psychological horror typing game that has just been released on Steam where you’ll take on the role of a data entry officer.
DEAD LETTER DEPT. is a strong addition to the corporate horror genre
If you’ve seen the Apple TV Series ‘Severence’, you’ll feel at home with DEAD LETTER DEPT. The game promises—and delivers—on providing a corporate horror experience, that will have you dreading clocking in and out.
In this new horror typing title, you’ll take up a temp job while getting situated in a new city… Sounds innocuous right? You are tasked with data-entry-like work, typing up the words and addresses on mail and letters that weren’t deliverable.
This game will have you working in a dinghy warehouse—isolated from the outside world, and the only connection you have to anyone else are letters that couldn’t reach their destination…
As the days pass and your fingers are tirelessly slaving away, you can’t help but shake the feeling that you’re being watched… If you like an atmospheric horror game with multiple endings and unique playthroughs, DEAD LETTER DEPT. is for you.
The game is available on Steam now for $21.95 AUD. There is currently an introductory offer—a 10% discount which ends on the 7th of February. Along with supporting Windows, the game has also been tested and works on Linux (along with SteamOS).f
While it might not fall under interactive fiction, DEAD LETTER DEPT. is interactive fiction-adjacent and is a must-play. However, if you do want a traditional horror interactive fiction experience, we recommend checking out the recently released Beast of Glenkildove novel set in the World of Darkness universe.
